Game Day Storylines- at Norfolk

Idaho Steelheads News Release

Steel Reel

The Steelheads overcame a two-goal deficit in Norfolk on Friday night but that wasn't enough to keep Brodie Dupont's rebound goal in overtime from ushering the Admirals to their first win on home ice this season, a 4-3 decision at Norfolk Scope. Despite the loss, the Steelheads remain unbeaten in regulation in their past four games, as well as their past four road games. The Steelheads also remain winless in overtime, winning all three games that have gone to shootouts but losing their two contests decided during the 3-on-3.

The Admirals jumped out to a 3-1 lead just 3:11 into the third period with goals from Jaedon Descheneau and Domenic Alberga, but the Steelheads responded with goals from Jefferson Dahl and Travis Walsh to force overtime. The Admirals scored the game-winner at 2:21 of overtime, when Alberga and Dupont converged on a sprawled Branden Komm and Dupont buried the rebound on his third attempt. Komm made 32 saves in a losing effort.

Comeback Knack...

The Steelheads two-goal effort in the third period Friday night was a common sight in Idaho's recent outings. In their last four games, and in five of their last seven, the Steelheads have trailed beyond the midway point of the second period and fought back to earn at least one point. Friday night in Norfolk was the third time this season Idaho has overcome a two-goal deficit in a game to earn a point, doing the same against the Adirondack Thunder on November 11th en route to a shootout win and also against the Utah Grizzlies, when they scored three third period goals to force overtime in a losing effort on October 22nd. In all three instances, the Steelheads multi-goal push came in the third period.

Do it again, Glen...

Rookie David Glen is beginning to show his offensive touch in recent games. The former captain at Penn State earned an assist on Anthony Luciani's goal Friday night, a goal on which Miro Karjalainen also earned his first point as a Steelhead. Glen now has a goal and three assists in his past four games after having just one goal in his first seven. Glen is also tied for second on the team with a plus-3 rating.

Dahl about it...

Rob Linsmayer got some company this week. Jefferson Dahl has followed up his ten-game points streak with back-to-back strong performances in Norfolk, registering a three -point night on Wednesday and adding a goal Friday. Those four points have put Dahl over the 100-point mark for his Steelheads career, now giving him 102 in an Idaho uniform. That's just nine points back of Linsmayer, who has 111 points as a Steelhead. Linsmayer has done a good job maintaining his scoring lead, with two assists Friday and six points in his last four games.
