LA Galaxy News Release

CARSON, CA (Tuesday, January 27, 2004) - The Los Angeles Galaxy will open their second season at The Home Depot Center on Saturday, April 3, 2004 as the club hosts the New England Revolution in Carson, CA. The Galaxy's 2004 schedule will feature two home matches each against defending MLS Cup Champions San Jose Earthquakes and 2003 Eastern Conference champion Chicago Fire, according the 2004 regular season schedule released today by Major League Soccer.

"We are very pleased to open the season at The Home Depot Center and look forward to a successful 2004 both on and off the field," said Los Angeles Galaxy Vice President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. "We feel our schedule provides a great balance for both our team and our fans with fourteen weekend dates and only one Wednesday match up at home, and no road trips of more than two games."

Overall, the home schedule features 13 Saturday dates, the most in club history eclipsing the previous high of 12 set in the 2002 season. The two remaining home games for the Galaxy will take place on a Wednesday and Sunday, including its annual July 4th game and traditional World-Class fireworks spectacular. April and July are the busiest months at The Home Depot Center for the Galaxy with six home games over the two-month period. Los Angeles' longest homestand during the season consists of five two-game stints at The Home Depot Center.

Los Angeles will play four games (2-home, 2-away) against each of their Western Conference rivals, the Burn, Earthquakes, Rapids and Wizards. They will also play a three series against each club in the Eastern Conference, except the Revolution whom they will meet only twice. In total, the Galaxy will play 16 games against the West, 14 games against the East.

The club's first match against the New England Revolution will mark the first MLS Season Opener in the history at The Home Depot Center. The meeting versus the Revolution is the first of two-straight home matches to kick off the new campaign. The second of those will be April 10 when D.C. United and 14-year-old phenom Freddy Adu make the cross-country trip to play in Carson. May will be a busy month for the Galaxy, with six games, included among them two cross-country flights to meet Eastern Conference opponents.

The Galaxy will play 17 of their 30 games before the league's ninth annual Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. The four-day event is scheduled to conclude with the all-star game on July 24 at a site to be named later by MLS.

The Galaxy's longest road trip consists of five two-game stretches. In 2003, the Galaxy set a league record with eight-game road trip in which the club posted a 0-4-4 record, a start from which the club never fully recovered. As the club with the most road wins (51) in MLS history, the Galaxy will also make four trips clear across the country to do battle with MetroStars and D.C. United.

Two teams return to their former homes in 2004 as the Galaxy visit the Dallas Burn at the Cotton Bowl on May 8 before traveling to Chicago on Sunday, June 27, to play the Fire at a remodeled Soldier Field. In addition, the Burn and Fire have announced sites for the construction of their new stadiums in Frisco, Texas and Bridgeview, Illinois that will open for the 2005 and 2006 seasons, respectively.

The Galaxy wrap up the 2004 regular season with two of their last three matches at The Home Depot Center. The club hosts Kansas City Wizards on October 2 and the Burn a week later on October 9, before traveling to Kansas City to conclude the regular season October 16, the sixth straight season that the team has finished the season on the road.

The national and local television schedules for 2004 Galaxy games are being finalized and will be released at a later date as well as game times.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are currently off and are scheduled to begin pre-season training camp on February 2 at The Home Depot Center.
