
Wizards 2004 Schedule Filled with Compelling Match-ups, Home Opener April 3rd

KANSAS CITY, MO (Tuesday, January 27, 2004) - Kansas City Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson announced today the Wizards 2004 MLS regular season schedule. Kansas City will kick off their 2004 campaign at home against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Chicago Fire at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, April 3rd. The Wizards will host a total of 15 regular season home games including the regular season finale against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday October 16th. All kickoff times as well as the television schedule will be released at a later date.
"2004 promises to be the best season yet for Wizards soccer at Arrowhead," said Johnson. "Coming off another record setting attendance year in 2003, excitement for Wizards soccer is at an all-time high. I am thrilled with the schedule and match-ups and have confidence that the 2004 Wizards will be very competitive and are capable of bringing home the Cup in November."
The Wizards 2004 Home Schedule will feature a number of exciting match-ups and promotions. Many more promotions will be announced prior to the 2004 season opener.
* April 3rd - 2004 Season Opener against defending Eastern Conference Champs Chicago Fire (Season Opener Attendance in 2003 was 22,403)
* April 17th - Price Chopper Break the Record Night against Columbus Crew (2003 Break the Record Night attendance set a franchise record of 30,308)
* May 1st - Western Conference Rival Colorado Rapids Come to Town in rematch of 2003 playoffs
* May 8th - Metro Sports presents Bobblehead Night as Chicago Fire Return to Arrowhead
* May 22nd - Offseason trade with Dallas takes center stage as Carey Talley and Eric Quill return to Kansas City
* June 2nd - Wolde Harris faces former team as New England Revolution come to town
* July 3rd - Wizards celebrate Independence weekend with match against rival Dallas Burn and Kansas City's largest fireworks display
* July 10th - 14-year old sensation Freddy Adu makes first trip to Kansas City as Wizards host D.C. United on Hispanic Heritage Night
* July 28th - Kansas City battles U.S. National Team standout Eddie Pope and the MetroStars
* August 13th - Kansas City takes on Landon Donovan and the defending MLS Cup Champions
* August 27th - Carlos Ruiz and the Los Angeles Galaxy make their first trip to Kansas City in 2004
* September 3rd - Young stars Ricardo Clark, Mike Magee and the MetroStars return to Arrowhead
* September 18th - Earthquakes return to Arrowhead as the battle for the postseason heats up
* September 25th - Wizards take on Chris Henderson and the Colorado Rapids in pivotal Western Conference showdown
* October 16th - Fan appreciation night as Wizards host Conference rival Galaxy in regular season finale
