COLUMBUS, Ohio (Tuesday, January 27) - Columbus Crew President/General Manager Jim Smith announced today the 2004 Columbus Crew season schedule. The start times of the games will be released at a later date after the final television schedule is completed.

The Crew will kick off year No. 9 of Major League Soccer on Saturday, April 3, at Columbus Crew Stadium. The Black & Gold will welcome the Eastern Conference rival MetroStars to town for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.

The 2004 Crew season will be a 30-game slate, including 15 home games and 15 road games. The Crew home schedule will feature 13 Saturday games and two Wednesday games, which will be the "Johnsonville Buck-A-Brat Nights" at Crew Stadium.

One of the highlights of the Crew home schedule is a Crew Stadium 5th Anniversary match on Saturday, May 15, vs. the New England Revolution. Crew Stadium opened on May 15, 1999 when the Black & Gold downed the Revolution 2-0 before a standing-room-only crowd of 24,741.

Columbus will take on its Eastern Conference foes four times each (two home, two away), while playing four of the five Western Conference teams three times. The Crew will play San Jose twice.

"With 13 Saturday matches -- including the stadium anniversary celebration -- and two of our famous Wednesday Johnsonville Buck-a-Brat Nights, I am very excited about the makeup of our 2004 home schedule," said Crew President/General Manager Jim Smith. "Our fans will be pleased that the vast majority of our games will be played on Saturdays, but we've also made sure to include a couple of our popular Buck-a-Brat Nights, which continue to be among the most recognizable promotions on the American soccer landscape."

Currently, the only way to get tickets to Crew home games is to purchase a season-ticket package. Interested parties can call 614-447-Crew or visit the official website at TheCrew.com for details and pricing.

Crew players and coaches are scheduled to report for training camp on February 1 and will begin preparations for the ninth MLS season. The complete preseason training schedule will be released in the near future.
