Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today announced G Justin Pogge and D Stu Bickel have been reassigned to the team by the Anaheim Ducks. The Condors roster now features 11 players on assignment from Anaheim this season.

Pogge, 23, is in his fourth professional season, and was acquired by the Ducks from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a summer deal. The Fort McMurray, Alberta, native was a 3rd round draft pick of the Leafs in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Pogge has played 142 games in the American Hockey League in his pro career, and made his NHL debut in 2008-09. He had a 1-4-1 record with a 4.36 goals against average (GAA) with Toronto, but also played 53 games with the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Leafs. He has won 26 games in each of the last two seasons with the Marlies.

When Toronto drafted Pogge in 2004, he was only beginning his strong career in the junior ranks, but it was his 2005-06 season that ranks as one of the greatest single season totals in Canadian Hockey League history (which includes the WHL, OHL and QMJHL). En route to a 1st Team CHL and Goaltender of the Year selection, he racked up a 38-10-6 record that season with a 1.72 GAA (4th all-time) and a .926 save percentage. His 11 shutouts rank 3rd in CHL history.

Pogge joins J.P. Levasseur and Timo Pielmeier as goaltenders assigned to the Condors during training camp.

Bickel, 23, is entering his second professional season after skating in 21 games in 2008-09 with the Iowa Chops. He contributed one assist and 51 penalty minutes during the season. The Clanhassen, Minnesota, native played one season for the legendary University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in 2007-08, racking up seven points and 92 penalty minutes. He also had a three-year junior career that spanned the United States Hockey League and North American Hockey League, putting up 33 points (10g-23a) and 375 PIM in 122 games.
