Matt Duffy Joins Everblades After Being Reassigned by Rochester

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced the signing of defenseman Matt Duffy today. Duffy began the season in the AHL's Rochester Americans' training camp.

Duffy spent four seasons at the University of Maine prior to turning pro. In 135 games with the Black Bears, the 2005 Florida Panthers draft pick tallied 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points with 164 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defenseman set career highs in goals (7), assists (10), points (17) and penalty minutes (64) last season. He was tied for second in power play goals for the Black Bears in 2008-09.

After finishing his collegiate career, Duffy appeared in nine games with the Rochester Americans (2-4=6) and two games with the Everblades to conclude the regular season. He also dressed for three Kelly Cup Playoff tilts and chipped in one assist.

The Florida Everblades begin their 12th season on the road Friday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. from the brand new arena in Toledo, Ohio against the Walleye. All the action can be heard on the Everblades new flagship station, Fox Sports Radio, 1200/1460AM and via Sportsjuice at the Everblades website: www.floridaeverblades.com beginning at 6:40 p.m. Florida opens the season at home on Friday, October 23 versus the Charlotte Checkers.

Everblades Weekly, the Everblades one-hour, call-in radio show returns to Shoeless Joe's Sports Café in the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Tower shopping plaza, returns this Monday with special guest defenseman Peter Metcalf, as well as comments from head coach Malcolm Cameron.
