The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 2-1 on Friday Night at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. G-Braves starting pitcher Todd Redmond kept the opposition in check all night with a gem of a performance for the victory. Gwinnett (54-58) is now 15.5 games behind Durham in the International League South and remain 7.0 games behind Louisville in the wild card hunt.

It Was Over When: Redmond started feeling it from the get-go. He threw a season-high 122 pitches and struck out at least 1 batter in every inning between the 4th-8th before being relieved with 1 out in the 8th.

At the plate: Second baseman Joe Thurston went 2-for-4 with the go-ahead RBI in the 5th inning, while left fielder Wilkin Ramirez finished 1-for-4 with an RBI of his own.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: StarterP Nate Bump went 2.0 IP and allowed 1 R/ER on 5 hits in abbreviated action. But Joe Savery (1-10) earned the loss in relief, yielding what would become the game-winning RBI as his only run in 4.0 IP.

At the plate: Center field Rich Thompson was 1-for-3 with Lehigh Valley's only RBI, while right fielder Melvin Dorta was 2-for-4.

On Deck: Gwinnett takes on Lehigh Valley in game three of a four-game series tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park. G-Braves RHP Brandon Beachy (1-0, 3.60 ERA) is scheduled to face RHP Vance Worley (0-0, 0.66 ERA) for the IronPigs.
