Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights were able to win two games in one day against the Toledo Mud Hens and are now back at .500 at 57-57. The first game of the double header was a continuation of Thursday's game that was suspended in the bottom of the 2nd inning due to rain.

The Knights began the first game of the double header already down 4-0 to the Mud Hens. They didn't let the early deficit keep them down as they added a pair of solo home runs from Jordan Danks. Later in the 8th inning the Knights tied it up on a home run from Luis Rodriguez.

Charlotte scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning on a sacrifice fly from Alejandro De Aza that scored Buck Coats to give the Knights the 5-4 victory. Clevelan Santeliz earned his first win on the season to improve to 1-4 and Toledo's Casey Fien took the loss to move his record to 1-2.

In the second game of the double header the Knights continued to play strong as they defeated the Mud Hens 6-1 in the 7 inning game.

Matt Zaleski made the start for the Knights and was solid for 5.0 innings as he allowed just one run off of four hits and struck out four. Zaleski earned his 7th win of the season and was helped out by a strong bullpen as reliever Ryan Braun made his seventh consecutive scoreless relief appearance.

The Knights offense didn't cool down in the second game as they took the lead immediately and didn't look back. Stefan Gartrell and Brent Morel hit back-to-back doubles to give Charlotte an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Knights put two more up on the board with a Luis Rodriguez sacrifice fly and RBI single from rehabbing White Sox third baseman Mark Teahen.

The Knights and Mud Hens continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. The Mud Hens will start LHP Charlie Furbush (1-1, 6.46 ERA) and the Knights will counter with RHP Brandon Hynick (1-1, 6.21 ERA).

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
