Gwinnett Stripers News Release
The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves needed to get back home to get a win in this home-and-home series, but they did it by knocking the Charlotte Knights off 4-0 at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA, on Saturday night. Gwinnett got more than a little help from yet another top Braves pitching prospect, as Randall Delgado made his Triple-A debut in dazzling fashion for the victory. The G-Braves (62-51) remain in second place in the International League South at 1.5 games behind Durham, who also won tonight. Gwinnett is also in second in the Wild Card race by a 1.5 games behind Pawtucket, who was also victorious tonight. The Knights (54-60) remain in third place in the IL South with the loss.
It Was Over When: Gwinnett's newest starting pitcher climbed the mound. Delgado made his debut one to remember, striking out at least one batter in each inning (including the side in the 3rd frame) for a total of 9 K's in the game.

At the Plate: First baseman Mauro Gomez chipped in at the dish, belting his 19th homer of the season in a 1-for-3 night with 1 RBI. Center fielder Matt Young was another spark plug for the offense tonight, going 2-for-3 with a steal of home in the top of the 1st inning. Shortstop Tyler Pastornicky extended his hitting streak to 11 games, finishing 1-for-3 with 1 RBI.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: Knights starting LHP and long time Major Leaguer Doug Davis (1-2) also went 6.0 IP, yielding 4 R/ER on 5 H with 1 BB and 7 K's in the loss.
At the Plate: Charlotte was without a run, but had a pair of hitters - LF Lastings Milledge and 3B Tyler Kuhn - who tallied two hits apiece.
