The Lead: Following a rain delay of two hours and 37 minutes prior to first pitch, the Charlotte Knight beat the Gwinnett Braves 7-5 in game two of the home and home series at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC. The loss is the second in a row for Gwinnett (61-51) and keeps the G-Braves a game and a half in back of the Durham Bulls in the IL South.

It Was Over When: When the Knights brought 10 men to the plate in the bottom of the third off of Braves RHP Erik Cordier. The Knights scored five in that half inning and would never trail. Braves Beat:

On the Mound: RHP Erik Cordier (3-8) started and got the loss. His line: 3.2 IP, 6H, 6R, 5ER, 5BB, 6K. RHP Steven Shell replaced Cordier with two outs in the fourth: 2.1 IP 4H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 4K. RHP Jay Chapman closed the game out: 2.0 IP, 1H, 1K.

At the plate: RF Stefan Gartrell was 1-for-4 with a two run homerun, his 24th. C Wil Nieves and SS Tyler Pastornicky each had two hits. Pastornicky upped his hitting streak to 10 games.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: RHP Dylan Axelrod (3-1) worked through a rough first inning to earn the win. His line: 5.0 IP, 7H, 3R/ER, 2BB, 2K. RHP Gregory Infante was one of three pitchers used out of the Knights bullpen. He earned his 3rd save: 1.1 IP 2 BB, 1K. At the Plate: SS Eduardo Escobar was 3-for-5. LF Tyler Kuhn and 1B Dallas McPherson each had two hits. McPherson and DH Lastings Milledge each had two RBI.

On Deck: The Gwinnett Braves and Charlotte Knights continue their four game-home and home series Saturday night at Coolray Field. First pitch at 7:05 p.m. RHP Randall Delgado (NR) will make his first Triple-A start for Gwinnett. LHP Doug Davis (1-1, 1.50) takes the mound for the Knights. The game can be heard on the home of the G-Braves, WDUN 550 AM/102.9 FM with Tony Schiavone and Judd Hickinbotham calling the play by play. Air time set for 6:35 p.m.
