Adirondack Frostbite News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY -- Kevin Watters scored his eighth goal of the season and Kris Tebbs turned aside 28 Quad City shots as the Adirondack Frostbite defeated the Quad City Mallards 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. With the win, the Frostbite improve to 5-1-0 on the season, and 3-0-0 at home.

After a scoreless first period, the Frostbite drew first blood 12:36 into the second period. Mike Berry found Blue Bennefield down low on the left wing side and he slid a shot past Mallards' goaltender Jason Tapp for his second goal of the season.

Quad City tied the game just under three minutes later. Joel Pullman's shot from the high slot was deflected in front by Anthony Blumer for his third goal of the season.

Adirondack took a 2-1 lead with just 1:55 left in the middle period, scoring a shorthanded goal for the fourth straight game. Hugo Belanger found Watters on the near post, and Watters beat Tapp high to the glove side for his team-leading eighth goal of the season. Watters has at least one goal in each of the Frostbite's eight games this season.

The Mallards tied the game midway through the third period. Andrei Lupandin's rink-wide pass deflected off of the stick of Frostbite winger Blake Stewart, and went behind Tebbs to send the game to the shootout.

With the score tied at two in the extra session, Belanger beat Tapp on the Frostbite's fifth shot of the shootout to pick up the win.

Adirondack killed off all 11 Quad City power plays on the night running its streak of consecutive penalty kills to 30.

The Frostbite return home on Friday, hosting the Elmira Jackals at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are available at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office or by calling (518) 798-0202.
