Last Week's Games
Friday, October 28th-Flint 3 at Mallards 2
The Mallards lost for the first time in 2005-06 on Friday night with a 3-2 defeat at The MARK vs. Flint. Rookies Anthony Blumer and Jesse Rycroft scored for Quad City in the loss. Blumer opened the scoring with his second professional goal. The rookie nabbed a Flint turnover at the blueline and fired a rocket past Jason Saal into the back of the Generals net. Blumer's goal stood up as the only marker of the opening period. In the second, Flint struck twice to take the lead. Matt Elich scored shorthanded at 13:07 of the period, and Terry Marchant scored during a four-on-four to give the Generals the lead. A valiant Mallards effort in the third produced 15 shots in an effort to tie the game, but Quad City could not top Saal's heroics in the Flint net. With 28 seconds left, Flint's Jason Selleke scored into an empty net to give the Generals a 3-1 edge. Rycroft scored his first professional goal by tipping home a shot from defenseman Flo Iberer with just two seconds left in the game.
Saturday, October 29th-Mallards 3 at Rockford 6
The Mallards fell to 2-2-0 on the season following a 6-3 loss last night in Rockford. Just 2:11 after Ralph's marker, Steve Yetman tallied his third goal of the season to stretch the Rockford lead to four goal. Preston Mizzi scored a pair just 11 seconds apart near the midway point of the middle period. The goals gave Mizzi a league-leading eight markers on the season and established a 6-0 Hogs lead. Matt Radoslovich scored the first Mallards goal of the game at 10:27 of the second. The goal was the third in four pro games for the rookie forward.
