Kingston Frontenacs News Release


On Friday, October 30, the Kingston Frontenacs will host the Peterborough Petes for the annual Pink in the Rink Game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The Frontenacs are returning home to Rogers K-Rock Centre after a five game road trip, where the Frontenacs won 4 games and lost 1. After Friday's game, the Frontenacs are back on the road to Oshawa on Sunday to cap off a two game weekend, and in Ottawa next Wednesday before returning to Rogers K-Rock Centre next Friday, November 6, 2015

Kingston Frontenacs

- 1st place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points in 13 games played this season, including 9 wins, 2 regulation losses, 1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses.

- 2nd best record in the OHL, behind only the Kitchener Rangers who have 21 points and lead the Western Conference

- On a 4 game winning streak (last loss was vs. Hamilton on October 17)

- In the past 10 games the Frontenacs have 8 wins and 2 regulation losses.

- Led in scoring by forward Spencer Watson (Los Angeles Kings) with 9 goals and 6 assists for 15 points in 13 games played this season. His 9 goals have him tied for 4th place in the OHL for goals scored.

- Defenceman Roland McKeown (Carolina Hurricanes) is second in scoring with 2 goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 13 games played this season. McKeown is 3rd in the entire OHL for scoring by defencemen.

- Lucas Peressini, the 2014-15 OHL Goalie of the Year, currently sits in 3rd place among OHL goalies with a Goals-Against-Average of 2.15 which is better than his franchise-record of 2.32 set last season.

- Head Coach Paul McFarland and rookie defencemen Jacob Paquette and Jakob Brahaney are away at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in British Columbia. Assistant Coach John Goodwin will assume head coaching duties until Coach McFarland's return.

- 9th best power play and 4th best penalty kill in the OHL.

Peterborough Petes

- 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 13 points in 13 games played this season, including 5 wins, 5 regulation losses, 1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses.

- 11th best record in the OHL.

- On a 5 game winless streak (last win was vs. Flint on October 11)

- In the past 10 games the Petes have 3 wins, 4 regulation losses, 1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses.

- Led in scoring by forward Hunter Garlant with 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 13 games played this season.

- Matthew Mancina, currently sits in 12th place among OHL goalies with a Goals-Against-Average of 2.97.

Game Notes

- Kingston and Peterborough have only met once this season - a 4-3 shootout win in Kingston at Rogers K-Rock Centre on Friday, October 16.

- With the Belleville Bulls relocation to Hamilton this season, the Frontenacs and Petes now play each other 8 times (4 home and 4 away).

- Lawson Crouse (Florida Panthers) makes his home game debut this season.

Pink in the Rink Notes

- Pink in the Rink Game is presented by Cataraqui Centre, is in support of the Canadian Cancer Society's breast cancer awareness and fundraising initiatives.

- The Kingston Frontenacs will wear special pink jerseys and socks for the game, which will be auctioned off online with the net proceeds to support the Canadian Cancer Society. The jerseys will be unveiled at the Kingston Frontenacs apparel store, Centre Sports, at Cataraqui Centre on Thursday, October 29 at 12:30 p.m.

- The ceremonial pregame puck drop will honour two breast cancer survivors close to the hearts of the Kingston Frontenacs:

o Christine Styles, partner of Kingston Frontenac assistant equipment manager Kevin Walker and mother of two was diagnosed with bilateral stage three breast cancer in this past March. After recovering from surgery she is currently undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy which will be completed in December. Christine is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran having completed 24 years of service.

o Kim Campbell, billet mom of Spencer Watson and Konstantin Chernyuk, and mother of two, was diagnosed with a highly aggressive, triple-negative invasive breast cancer in October 2014. She is making a great recovery after surgery, 6 months of chemotherapy and a month of radiation treatments. Kim has lived in Kingston all her life and currently works at Ongwanada Hospital.

- Special PINK PACKS which include a game ticket to Friday's game, a limited edition Pink Frontenacs T-Shirt, and a $5 donation to the Canadian Cancer Society are currently available for sale at Cataraqui Centre Guest Services, Canadian Cancer Society Kingston Office, Frontenacs Originals Store at Rogers K-Rock Centre, and Centre Sports Apparel at Cataraqui Centre. The $25 package includes all taxes and fees.
