Derek King Steps Down
October 28, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that Assistant Coach Derek King has stepped down from his position and will depart the organization, effective immediately.
King joined the Attack in August as an Assistant Coach after spending six seasons with the Toronto Marlies and citing family reasons.
"I would like to thank the Attack Ownership Group, Dale and Ryan for the exceptional opportunity. The people, the fans and everyone in the organization has been great.", said King. "When I accepted the position I was sure I could be away from my family. That turned out not to be the case and at this time, I cannot uproot my family.I am going home to be with them and support them until I can find a suitable situation where we can all be together. "
Attack General Manager Dale DeGray will join Ryan McGill on the bench for the time being until a replacement is named.
"It was unfortunate news to get, but at the same time, I fully understand and respect Derek's decision.", stated Dale DeGray. "Derek is doing what is best for he and his family and we wish them all the absolute best."
The Attack has given no timeline for a replacement.
