Kingston Frontenacs News Release

The Kingston Frontenacs are proud to announce that they will be honouring all-time scoring leader and fan favorites Keli Corpse, next Friday February 26th against the Belleville Bulls, when they raise his #88 to the rafters at the K-Rock Centre.

"Keli finished his career as the all-time points leader with the Franchise, who was not only outstanding on the ice, but off the ice as well within the community" said Jeff Stilwell, Director of Marketing, Public, Media and Player Relations.

Corpse will join previous honourees Mike O'Connell (#5), Brad Rhiness (#10), Tony McKegney (#7) Ken Linseman (#14), David Ling (#17) and Mike Zigomanis (#7).

A first round selection by the Frontenacs in the 1990 OHL Priority selection, Corpse put up an impressive 51 points in his rookie season, including 18 goals. Little did anyone realize that this would be the start of a career that left Corpse as the Franchise's All-Time Leader in a number of offensive categories. Playing parts of five seasons with the Club, he stands third all-time in games played with 265, third all-time in goals with 135, first all-time in assists with 285, and first all-time in points with 420. Twice he lead his team in scoring, and has the fifth highest single season point total when he scored 126 points in 1993-94 season.

Corpse won the inaugural Ontario Hockey League's "Humanitarian of the Year" award in 1992-93 for his outstanding contributions to the Kingston community while playing for the Black and Gold.

He was an Assistant Captain with the Club in the 1991-92 and 1992-93 season before he was named Captain of the team in this final full season of 1993-94. Drafted to the National Hockey League in the 2nd round, 44th overall in 1992 to the Montreal Canadians, he played seven years professionally before becoming a police officer. Currently he serves with the Brantford Police Service as a constable; he was appointed the new D.A.R.E officer (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) for the City of Brantford this past September.

Joining him to celebrate will be his wife Cynthia and his two boys Colt and Tye.
