February 18, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Plymouth Whalers News Release

When the Whalers host the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors this Friday at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena, they'll be working on a recycling campaign to assist American military men and women in action as well as children and their families in need.

With "green" sponsors www.TheRecyclingExperts.com and www.easygreenshop.com, the Whalers - along with Plymouth flagship station 88.1FM WSDP "The Escape" - are asking fans to donate used cell phones to Friday's game against Mississauga. For added incentive, fans donating used cell phones will have the opportunity to win one of three $100 Music Download cards.

Every fan at the game will receive a FREE Plymouth Whalers Ringtone Card. The Whalers will be offering unique and exclusive ringtones featuring Whalers goal calls from actual broadcasts and public address announcements of specific players that they can download online.

Proceeds from the cell phone collection will be donated to American Soldiers through www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com and to children with pediatric brain tumors through www.friendsofjaclyn.org. All phones will be disposed of properly by www.recellular.com in Ann Arbor, MI.

Friday's game is another $5 Friday brought to you by Farmers Insurance Group. Select seats in sections 105-110 are offered for $5 during all Friday home games. More and more fans are taking advantage of the opportunity to stretch their entertainment budget with this outstanding value.

The Whalers are on home ice again Saturday to host Sarnia at 7:05pm Compuware Arena. Fans can stick around after the game to meet the entire Whalers team for a special autograph session.

Both games will be broadcast on 88.1FM WSDP starting at 6:50pm on Friday and Saturday.
