
$7,700 Raised From Mickey Renaud Community Based Events

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce the success of the Family Day events conducted this past Monday in honour of Mickey Renaud as they raised a total of $7,700 which will be donated to the Sutherland Global Services Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Sutherland Global Services and Windsor Spitfires Windsor Minor Hockey Tyke Tournament generated $2,700, as 50-plus Tyke-aged children participated in the event. Windsor Spitfires Ryan Ellis, Stephen Johnston, Zack Kassian, Dale Mitchell, Cam Fowler, Mark Cundari, Adam Wallace and Philipp Grubauer served as guest referees for the two-game event with Detroit Red Wings' Director of Player Development Jiri Fischer also signing autographs for people attending the event. The Windsor Spitfires would like to thank Mr. Jiri Fischer for graciously offering his time to attend the event and also to Parker Construction and McDonald's Restaurants for making financial contributions to the tournament, while also providing the participating children with gift bags and food following the conclusion of the tournament games. The Windsor Spitfires would also like to thank Windsor Minor Hockey for helping organize the event.
Monday evening, the Windsor Spitfires attended the Canadian Association of Mould Makers (CAMM) dinner hosted at the Serbian Centre. The event raised $5,000, as Windsor Spitfires President and Head Coach Bob Boughner served as the keynote speaker for the event while Spitfire players Taylor Hall, Greg Nemisz, Harry Young, Justin Shugg, Troy Passingham, Eric Wellwood, Kenny Ryan, Marc Cantin and Michael Whaley in attendance to sign autographs for 160 people attending the event. The Windsor Spitfires would like to thank Platinum Tool Technologies Inc., CAW Local 200, Lomar Machine Repair Inc. and Re-doe Mold Company Ltd. for their financial contributions to the event.
Earlier tonight prior to the commencement of the Spitfires home game versus Mississauga, Sutherland Global Services and the Windsor Spitfires along with Mark and Jane Renaud awarded Seth Ruthven as well as Jillayne Malik, the inaugural winners of the Sutherland Global Services Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship Fund with $3,000 scholarships. The scholarships will be utilized by each student to pursue their post-secondary education at St. Clair College.

Last but certainly not least, the Spitfires would like to thank Sutherland Global Services for the hard work in establishing the fund with Parker Construction, McDonald's Restaurants, Windsor Minor Hockey Association and all of the business supporting the CAMM dinner for their tremendous support in helping us generate monies for the fund in honour of "Our Captain Forever" Mickey Renaud.
