Fritz To Return As Head Coach In 2010-11

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 19, 2010) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce has exercised the option on the contract of head coach Tony Fritz for the 2010-11 season it was announced today by owner/president Mike Heineman. He has led the team to a record of 27-16 in his first stint as a professional head coach and put them in position to make the playoffs as one of the top four seeds.

"Tony has done a tremendous job for us this season," said owner/president Mike Heineman. "His ability to develop players while creating a winning culture has earned him the right to continue guiding our franchise into next season."

During the past two seasons as an assistant coach, Fritz helped guide the Skyforce to a regular season record of 53-47 (.530) and a trip to the league semifinals in 2007-08. Before arriving in Sioux Falls he worked in a coaching capacity for the Yakima Sun Kings for seven seasons and was on the bench for four of the franchise's five CBA championships.

"I am extremely excited to return to such a great organization and city," said Fritz. "We are very proud of the team and the direction we are headed but we have a lot of work left to do this season."

The Skyforce's next game is tonight on the road against the Iowa Energy. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs are on sale for the 2009-10 season.
