Utah Flash News Release
OREM, UT - The Utah Flash visited Los Angeles to take on the L.A. D-Fenders Friday afternoon. It took a balanced effort from Utah Jazz assignee Kosta Koufos, Kevin Kruger, and Orien Greene to get the victory. The trio of Flash players combined for 67 points in the 128-107 win.
The Flash and the D-Fenders started off the game making shot after shot and trading buckets. However Los Angeles built a six point lead during the first quarter behind seven points from James Peters who was playing only his fourth game as a Los Angeles D-Fender.
The D-Fenders built on their first quarter lead and pushed the advantage to as many as 10 points during the second quarter, but ended the half with only a 61-57 lead. All five L.A. starters notched at least seven points in the first half of play. For the Flash, Koufos led all scorers with 16 points in the first half.
Utah came out during the third quarter and not only closed the gap but took the lead. A pair of Kevin Kruger three pointers as well as continuous production from Koufos gave Utah an 83-81, their first lead of the second half. Dar Tucker kept the D-Fenders in the game with eight third-quarter points.
A four point halftime deficit was turned into a seven point Flash lead heading into the fourth quarter. That lead continued to balloon to as many as 27 points as Utah went on a 37-11 run. That huge run was led by Greene's 23 second-half points. The Flash held the D-Fenders to just 19 points in the fourth quarter, and managed to score 30-plus points in three of four quarters. Utah was led by Greene's 26 points, while Kruger scored 21 points and Utah Jazz assignee Kosta Koufos had 20 points and seven rebounds.
Tucker led the way for Los Angeles with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Peters chipped in 15 and James Wright notched 14 points. The two teams will play again on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
