Third Quarter Woes Plague T-Birds in Loss to Maine

PORTLAND, ME, March 18, 2010 - Keith McLeod scored 34 points for Albuquerque, but the T-Birds came up short against the Maine Red Claws on Friday night, losing 128-111. McLeod shot 10-21 from the field, including 5-10 from beyond the three point line.

Chad Toppert scored 17 points for the Thunderbirds. Trey Gilder added 16 and Shane Edwards chipped in 15 for Albuquerque.

The first half featured four ties and eight lead changes, with the Red Claws leading 67-62 at the break. The 129 combined first half points is the most that have been scored in a T-Birds game this year.

Maine used a 17-3 run to close the third quarter, and led 102-81 heading into the fourth. The T-Birds were outscored 35-19 in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in their 17 point loss.

Albuquerque shot 48.8% from the field for the game. Maine shot 55.7% overall.

Albuquerque will have a chance to bounce back when it travels to Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday to take on the Mad Ants. The game will begin at 3:00 PM, and fans can listen in to the action live on 1050 KTBL.
