San Antonio Missions News Release
FRISCO-The Missions pitching staff continued to struggle on the road trip as San Antonio was handed its worst loss of the season Friday night in front of 10,216 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
Matt Wisler, ranked as the Padres 6th best prospect according to Baseball America, had a dreadful first inning, allowing five runs, including back-to-back homers, as he labored with his command.
Frisco clubbed a season-high four homeruns, two coming from Chih-Hsien Chiang, and had eight extra base hits among their 13 total.
Robert Lara served up a grandslam in the eighth inning to Jared Hoying, the first slam allowed by the Missions this year.
Eddy Rodriguez homered deep to left in the second inning for the Missions only run.
The Missions, who are second in league ERA, have allowed 42 runs, 64 hits, and 10 homeruns thru the first five games of the trip, accounting for nearly =C21/4 of all the runs they have allowed for the season.
Missions starters have been charged with 24 earned runs in 23.2 innings on the trip.
Notebook: The Missions had allowed 10 or more runs once thru their first 36 games but have done so in three of the five games on the trip. San Antonio hurlers have retired the side in order only seven times in five games on the road trip.
Next Up: Friday-Missions RH Donn Roach (2-4, 5.03) vs Frisco RH Tyler Tufts (1-0, 3.38) at 7:05 PM.
