Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

MIDLAND - Anthony Aliotti went 4-for-5 with three home runs, a double and eight RBIs Saturday night as the RockHounds rolled to a 12-4 victory over the Hooks at Citibank Ballpark.

Corpus Christi starter Nick Tropeano issued a walk to open his night. Following a sac bunt by D'Arby Myers, Aliotti belted a two-run shot to left field. Jake Goebbert followed with a single but Tropeano bounced back, inducing a ground ball to third baseman Jonathan Meyer who began a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.

In the home second, Darwin Perez worked a one-out walk and stole second base. Following a strikeout of Beau Taylor, Tyler Ladendorf lined a single into right. Perez tried to score from second base but was gunned down by Domingo Santana at the plate. Catcher Max Stassi completed the play with a lunging tag.

Three consecutive hits opened the Midland third, including RBI doubles by Myers and Aliotti. Goebbert capped the three-run frame with a sac fly to centerfield.

The Hooks (24-18) posted a run in the fourth. George Springer, who coaxed a lead-off walk, came around to score on a sac fly off the bat of Meyer.

The Hounds (20-22) answered quickly. Perez, who began the home half, fell behind in the count 1-2. He then lined the third offering from Tropeano (0-3) past Springer in center for a triple. Conner Crumbliss, direct from Triple-A Sacramento, later worked a two-out walk, prompting the exit of Tropeano. Bobby Doran was greeted rudely with a two-run triple from Myers and Aliotti's second blast of the night, a two-run poke onto the berm in centerfield.

Enrique Hernandez, 3-for-5 on the night, provided Corpus Christi's second run with a two-out RBI double in the fifth.

Following Alliotti's second home run, Doran retired five in a row before losing Miles Head to a 3-2 walk in the sixth. Myers' one-out single brought Kenny Long into the game. The lefty jumped ahead of Aliotti 1-0 but the reigning Texas League Player of the Week deposited the next pitch over the left-field fence for the hat trick.

Santana closed out his three-hit night with a two-run double to right-center in the seventh.

Zach Neal (4-1) earned the victory for Midland, spreading two runs and five hits over 5.2 innings. He fanned three and walked three, throwing 62 of 106 pitches for strikes.

The series, now level at one, continues Sunday afternoon when David Martinez (6-0, 1.80) and Mike Foltynewicz (0-0, 1.38) engage RockHound right-hander Arnold Leon (2-2, 4.70). First pitch is 2:05.
