San Antonio Missions News Release
FRISCO-Missions OF Kalian Sams used his bat and glove to lead San Antonio to victory Saturday night in front of 10,675 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
Sams clouted his seventh homer in 11 games, added a pair of run-scoring doubles and made a spectacular diving catch in right late in the game to help preserve the lead.
The free-agent signee has hit safely in nine of his 11 games since joining the Missions. Eleven of his 12 hits have gone for extra bases.
Since his May 5 debut he is tied for the minor league lead in homeruns, is tied for the Double-A rbi lead with 18, and is fourth in OPS. Sams leads the Missions in homeruns for the season.
Donn Roach was charged with five runs, four earned, in just three innings after allowing a career-high 10 runs in his last outing.
A mental blunder in the field by SS Jeudy Valdez in the third inning cost the Missions a potential double play and helped lead to three Frisco runs off Roach.
Notebook: The Missions have homered in 10 straight games, hitting 13 longballs...San Antonio has scored 66 runs in the last 11 games...Missions starters have compiled a 9.45 ERA in six games on the roadtrip.
Next Up: Sunday-Missions LH Jose De Paula (3-3, 3.53) vs Frisco RH Neil Ramirez (3-1, 2.93) at 4:05 PM.
