Frisco RoughRiders News Release
AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders fell 7-4 to the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Thursday night from HODGETOWN. In the defeat, Blaine Crim homered for the third time in the last two games.
Amarillo (28-25, 60-62) drew first blood in the bottom of the second inning when Blaze Alexander lifted a solo home run against Riders (29-24, 65-57) starter Cody Bradford (8-7), who took the loss.
The Sod Poodles added on in the third on a sacrifice fly from Roby Enriquez to make it 2-0 before David Garcia answered with an RBI ground out in the fifth to put the Riders down one run.
In the bottom of the fifth, Amarillo mirrored the Riders run with an Andy Yerzy RBI double to increase the lead to 3-1.
Alexander then tripled in a run in the sixth and Juan Centeno plated a second tally in the inning with a sacrifice fly, pushing the advantage to 5-1.
The Sod Poodles flexed in the seventh as both Yerzy and Leandro Cedeno crushed solo homers to balloon the lead to 7-1.
In the top of the eighth, Crim blasted a solo shot to left center for his 19th long ball of the year and his third in the last two contests.
Trailing 7-2 entering the top of the ninth, Frisco battled back when Frainyer Chavez scored on a double play and Jonathan Ornelas ripped an RBI single, but Frisco was turned away by Blake Rogers who earned his 13th save of the season for Amarillo.
In his three innings out of the bullpen, Kenny Hernandez (4-4) took home the win for the Sod Poodles.
On the offensive side for the RoughRiders, both Crim and Justin Foscue had two-hit games to lead the way.
