FLORENCE, KY - It took Everett Saul almost a month to do so, but on his fifth try the right hander picked up his tenth victory of the season as the Florence Freedom downed the Windy City Thunderbolts 10-6 Thursday night at Champion Window Field.

Saul (10-7) allowed only one run through six innings of work, striking out five and walking two.

The Freedom bats supported their leader in wins with a huge fourth inning. With the game scoreless, Florence put up nine runs on three home runs and a wild pitch.

Dustin Koca was the man to get it started with a couple of runners on base. The newly acquired outfielder hit his first homer in a Freedom uniform to make it 3-0. Brad Hough scored on a Carson Bryant wild pitch to make it 4-0 Freedom. With two on and two outs, Ryan Basham connected for the inning's second three-run dinger to make it 7-0. Justin Pickett capped off the inning with his team leading 22nd homer to make it 9-0.

Saul turned the game over to the bullpen in the seventh with the Freedom on top 9-1, and although shaky, the pen did finish out the win combining to allow five runs over three innings.

Jonathan Miller retired all three batters he faced in the ninth when he came in for Steve Szkotak to finish off the Thunderbolts.

The three home runs hit by the Freedom put them over the century mark as a team in 2009. Florence has clubbed 101 homers, good for third best in the Frontier League.

Florence finished its season series with the two-time defending Frontier League champion Windy City Thunderbolts with a 4-2 record. Up next for the Freedom is a three-game series with the Rockford RiverHawks beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The Friday night game is the final Fox 19 Fireworks Friday of the season which includes post-game Rozzi's Fireworks.
