Grizzlies Win Finale From Beach Bums

SAUGET, IL- Charlie Lisk hit a milestone home run and Brandon Johnson drove in three runs Thursday night as the Gateway Grizzlies defeated the Traverse City Beach Bums 9-7 in the finale of a three-game series at GCS Ballpark.

Lisk hit his 24th home run of the year in the fifth inning. The three-run shot, which tied the game 4-4, was the 64th of his Frontier League career, moving him into a third-place tie in career home runs. The homer was his first since July 28. Lisk's homer capped a four-run inning. Brandon Peters drove in a run in the inning with a single. Lisk finished 1-4. Peters was 2-4.

Johnson's RBIs came in the seventh inning with the Grizzlies trailing 6-5. Johnson drilled a double to the left-center field gap, scoring three and putting the Grizzlies up for good 8-6. Joe Agreste picked up an RBI earlier in the inning on a bases-loaded walk. Breck Draper drove in Johnson with a single to center to make it 9-6 Grizzlies.

Johnson and Draper were both 1-4.

Collin Brennan (2-0) earned the win with two innings in relief. He allowed a run on two hits. He struck out three. Joel Boeschen pitched the ninth for this seventh save of the year. He struck out two.

Traverse City (37-44) got out to a 4-0 lead after four innings. Former Grizzlie John Alonso finished 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Alonso was 11-15 (.733) for the series with three home runs and five RBIs.

The Grizzlies welcome the Kalamazoo Kings to town for a three-game series beginning Friday night at GCS Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
