
Wild Things Win in Ten, Despite Rain

Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things (38-42), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Rockford RiverHawks (40-40) 4-3 in ten innings. It was their last meeting before the RiverHawks move to the Northern League next year.
Ryan Groth hit the game winning single with the bases loaded and an 0-2 count in the tenth inning.
The RiverHawks scored their three runs in the first inning when Robert Sabates hit a two RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly.
After an hour and forty minute rain delay in the middle of the sixth, Chris Sidick put the Wild Things on the board with a two run homerun. Washington tied the game in the eighth, when Brett Grandstrand scored from first on an overthrow.
Starter Brian McCullough pitched six innings for the Wild Things, giving up four hits and striking out four.
Washington starts a series against Windy City with a double header tomorrow. Tickets can be purchased at www.washingtonwildthings.com or at the box office. Game One of the double header (5:05 p.m.) will be broadcast on WJPA 1450 AM. Game two will be aired on WJPA 95.3 F.M. Game two will start thirty minutes after the first ends.
