
Freedom take down Thunderbolts

Florence, Kentucky: 2,454 fans went through the gates at Champion Window Field, now two consecutive nights with over 2,000 fans. The Freedom avoid the sweep, beating Windy City 8-2.
Wally Quigg led the offense, going 2-5 with two RBI. Scott Martin went 2-4 with an RBI, and he stole a base. Brandon Cornell had a spectacular night, going 3-3 with a pair of RBI doubles, raising his batting average to .296. Josh Sanchez added an RBI, and his seventh stolen base of the year. Once again Starting pitching was spectacular, Florence starter Jason Bowlin went seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out five. Mickey O'Quinn pitched a scoreless eighth, and Mike Causey pitched a scoreless ninth. Jason Bowlin improves to 8-1, with a 3.39 ERA, and he is now tied for third in the league for wins.
Washington also won last night, so the Freedom and Wild Things are still tied atop the Frontier League East Division, both with a 36-24 record. Florence welcomes the Gateway Grizzlies to Champion Window Field tonight, with 1,000 beach towels being handed out before the game. The Grizzlies come in for a three game set, and then the Freedom head back out on the road.
