Washington, PA - The Riverhounds FC lost 3-2 to the Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday night at Falconi Field in front of 2,606 fans. The Hounds had the early lead, but couldn't hold on, dropping their record to 5-9-2.

The Riverhounds immediately applied the pressure as midfielder Vicente Bastidas took a shot in the eighth minute that hit off the cross-bar. The Hounds' luck improved when in the 29th minute Anthony Calvano's hustle paid off for the team. Calvano ran through a ball while the Hammerheads' defender attempted to clear it. Calvano ended up with some space down the left corner and crossed the ball into the middle where Bastidas buried the shot, making the game 1-0 in favor of the Hounds. The Hounds ended the half with a 1-0 lead.

The second half proved to be a battle as both teams displayed physical play on the field. The Hammerheads fought back and got their first goal in the 78th minute when Chris Bagley hit a half-volley past GK McNellis to tie the game at one. Three minutes later the Hammerheads struck again as Montae Seabrook scored off of a diving header to give his team the lead. Wilmington added another goal in the 84th minute when Bagley picked up his second goal of the night, furthering the Hammerheads' lead to 3-1. The Hounds threatened a comeback but only managed one more goal in extra time to narrow the lead. Damien Pottinger punched in the goal to make the game 3-2, but shortly after his goal the final whistle blew, ending the game and securing the 3-2 loss.

The HOUNDS return to action at Falconi Field August 9th when they face Norhern Virginia. The first 1,000 kids will receive a Riverhounds gift. The following day the Hounds will host the Columbus Crew for an exhibition match at Falconi Field. Tickets are available at the Falconi Field Box Office.
