Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Freedom didn't quite walk 500 miles, but they came awfully close, as the Washington Wild Things lived up to their names as they walked 11 in a 7-1 loss Monday night at Champion Window Field.

Baron Short was a completely different story for the Freedom on the hill. Short made his first start of the season for Florence and went seven strong innings, allowing only one run on two hits while striking out six to improve to 1-0.

Short's only shortcoming came in the first inning when he walked Chris Sidick the leadoff man. Sidick stole second and then third before he scored on Grant Psomas sacrifice fly. Short then allowed a bases empty, two out double to Jacob Dempsey, but went on to retire the next 17 straight Wild Things.

The Freedom backed their right-hander with a two spot in the second to take a 2-1 lead.
