LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Evansville Otters rallied in the eighth inning to snap two streaks with a 4-3 win over the Rockford RiverHawks on Monday at Bosse Field.

Rockford's three-game winning streak ended with the defeat. The Otters pulled out of a five-game skid.

The Otters broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning. Greg Alexander led off the eighth with a double off Rockford starter Brett Durand. Marcus McKenzie relieved Durand and Matt Pulley singled home the go-ahead run.

Rockford left nine men on base - five of them in scoring position - but scored all three runs on two-out hits. The RiverHawks came up with three straight two-out singles in the third inning, capped by Ross McCoy's RBI single. After Rockford fell behind, 3-1, on Greg Alexander's home run in the fourth and RBI singles from Josh Howard and Javier Brown in the fifth, the RiverHawks came from behind with more clutch hitting. Doug Sanders singled home a two-out run in the seventh inning. Three straight RiverHawks reached base with two outs in the eighth inning. Pinch-hitter Matt Mazurek singled home the tying run.

Durand (3-1) struck out five and walked only one, but gave up 11 hits in his first loss of the year. Evansville reliever Brandon Dill (2-1) blew the lead in the eighth inning, but got the win. Justin Smith pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save.

The three-game series continues at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
