
Rascals Earn Walk Off 7-6 Win in 10 Innings

O'FALLON, MO - Chris Warters delivered a walk off single in the bottom of the tenth for a 7-6 victory over the Evansville Otters. The win completed a three game sweep of the Otters and a 4-1 home stand for River City.
The Rascals (14-7) improved to 2-1 in extra inning games with a run in the tenth. Ryan Wehrle walked with one out, stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher, Frank Meade. Warters followed with a single off Nick Utley to left centerfield to send the Rascals faithful home happy.
The Otters (6-15) jumped out early on Josh Lowey, scoring three in the third on a Greg Alexander three-run homer. Javier Brown walked and Dustin Koca singled in front of the Alexander long ball for a 3-0 lead.
The Rascals answered in the fifth with two runs of their own on a JoJo Batten RBI double and on a groundout by Pete Paris to cut into the lead at 3-2.
River City pushed two across in the sixth for a 4-3 advantage. Kevin Reynolds singled with one out and a Dustin Renfrow pitch hit Chris Colton. After a Scott Robinson fly out and a double steal, Wehrle delivered an RBI single to center field to give the Rascals the lead.
Evansville responded after Colton singled in two more runs in the seventh with three runs of their own in the eighth. Meade singled home Matt Pulley and Kevin Mackey launched a two run home run off Tony Marsala to tie the game at six.
Ryan Ashner (3-0) earned the win with a scoreless tenth inning. Lowey went the first five innings, his first professional start. The right-hander allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout. Eric Cordell tossed the next 2.1 frames, allowing two runs on three hits.
Utley (1-1) was tagged with the loss, tossing 1.1 innings allowing the one hit and one run. Renfrow lasted 6.1 innings in the start, allowing six hits and six runs with three strikeouts.
Batten, Wehrle and Colton each had a pair of hits with Wehrle and Colton combining for four knocked in.
The Rascals now head to the road for six straight, including a three game series with the Windy City ThunderBolts. Game time tonight in Windy City is set for 7:05 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. pre-game show online at www.kfns.com.
