
Freedom Sweep Grizzlies in Doubleheader

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Freedom combined for 15 runs in two games and swept the Gateway Grizzlies in a doubleheader Wednesday at UCMC Stadium.
Florence defeated Gateway 6-0 in game one and 9-1 in game two.
The Grizzlies have now lost three games in a row.
In game one, Florence scored six runs in the first three innings off of Gateway starting pitcher Chris Enourato (1-2) to take the lead for good.
Enourato allowed six runs on eight hits in two-plus innings.
Gateway (9-7) only collected two hits in the game, with their first hit coming in the sixth inning on a Jonathan Johnson two-out single. Alex Guthrie singled for the only other Grizzlies hit.
In game two, Florence (11-6) scored four runs in the first inning on a grand slam home run by Jacob Tanis.
Grizzlies right-hander Clayton Hicks (0-1) made his pro debut and allowed seven runs on four hits in three and two thirds innings. He walked five batters and struck out seven.
After Gateway scored their first and only run of the day on a Jose Flores RBI single in the third, Florence scored four runs in the fourth and a run in the sixth.
The Grizzlies will try to avoid the sweep against the Freedom in the series finale Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 CST. Right-hander Ja'Vaun West (2-0) will make the start for the Grizzlies.
