Florence Y'alls News Release

The Florence Freedom plans to make true of their motto this Friday June 18, 2004..."Go with the Flo!" When the rain works against you, it makes for construction delays, but the Freedom will return home from their long road trip to a warm hometown welcome for their opener at Champion Windows Field. While the stadium will not be completely finished...the show will go on. This is what makes minor league baseball different from the major leagues, things may not be perfect...the incomplete stadium, the last few losses on the record, but we are excited to open in Florence and have affordable, family, fun. Fun being the key word...there are some fun things in store for this first ever opening weekend for a professional baseball team in the City of Florence. On Friday, the stadium will open for fans at 6:00pm and the game will begin at 7:05pm with the National Anthem from the sounds of Mark Rivera's saxophone. He regularly performs with such greats as Billy Joel and Ringo Starr. The concourse will be filled with other forms of entertainment including clowns and magicians. All fans will receive a magnetic schedule and a set of cheer stix that night. After the Freedom opens with a win their first night, Saturday promises a fun filled day. A huge Flo style parade will run through Florence at 3:00pm. It will begin at Boone County High School and travel down 18, make a left onto Ewing Blvd., continue to a right onto Dream Street, and finally go across to Freedom Way and trail up to the stadium. There will be pom poms distributed that night to add to the action. Sunday happens to be Father's Day, so dad's...don't think we left you out. Executive Springs Car Wash is the proud sponsor and there will be a few prizes given away for the fathers that attend. Fans, come out and support the Freedom in their quest to impress their home crowd. Monday is a much needed day off for the Freedom team and staff, but they will return to their home at Champion Windows Field on Tuesday.
