FREDERICK, Md. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans allowed eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings and fell 8-2 to the Frederick Keys on Wednesday night from Harry Grove Stadium.

After a bases-loaded walk to Miguel Amaya in the fifth put the Pelicans (17-30) up 1-0, the Keys (22-22) jumped all over the Birds' pitching staff.

Pelicans starter Alex Lange (1-7), who was brilliant through his start until the sixth, allowed a double and two two-out walks in the sixth before he was removed for Brian Glowicki . Trevor Craport then ripped a three-run double down the left field line to give the Keys a 3-1 advantage. The next batter, Jean Carrillo, singled home Craport and then scored on a Sean Miller double which made it 5-1 Frederick.

Lange finished his night was a season-high 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out six. After retiring the first batter of the sixth, he sat down 10 in a row.

In the seventh, the Keys added on with three more runs. Jake Ring collected an RBI single and Craport knocked in two more with a two-run double to stake Frederick to a 8-1 lead.

The Birds fought back in the ninth with a run on an RBI double from Grant Fennell , but were turned away.

Luis Perez (2-1) earned the win for Frederick, tossing three shutout innings in relief.

The Pelicans' 11-game road trip continues with the series finale in Frederick against the Keys on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The Pelicans have not announced a starter while LHP D.L.
