Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD. - A big night from Trevor Craport powered the Frederick Keys (22-22) to an 8-2 win against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (17-30) on Wednesday night at Nymeo Field. Craport finished with two doubles and five RBIs as the all eight runs for Frederick came with two-outs. Luis Perez (2-1) earned the win after tossing three scoreless innings and allowed just one baserunner. With the win, the Keys draw even at .500 for the second time this season.

After four scoreless innings, the Pelicans finally got their first base hit off Cameron Bishop to start the fifth. Two more base hits followed to load the bases for the top of the lineup. Bishop buckled down and struck out Jimmy Herron and Jhonny Bethencourt to get two-outs but Miguel Amaya drew a walk to put the Pelicans on the board 1-0. Bishop induced a groundout to end the inning.

That was the lone run Bishop surrendered. The lefthander gave up three hits and four walks while striking out four batters in 5.0 frames.

Alex Lange had his best start of the season but ran into trouble in the sixth. After Cole Billingsley doubled, Lange walked a pair of batters to load the bases with two-outs. He was replaced after throwing 97 pitches and Brian Glowicki came on in his place to face Craport, who cleared the bases with a double down the left field line to give the Keys a 3-1 lead. Jean Carrillo scored him on a single and Sean Miller followed with an RBI double to make it 5-1.

Lange (1-7) was dealt the loss after giving up three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings.

In the seventh, with runners on first and second and two-outs, Jake Ring worked a full-count and singled into right field to score a run. Craport then blasted a double into left-center field to bring in two more runs and make it 8-1 Keys.

Grant Fennell's RBI double would make it 8-2 in the ninth.

The Keys and Pelicans finish their four-game set on Thursday, May 23 before the Keys head to Potomac. LHP DL Hall (1-2, 5.40) starts for Frederick. First pitch is slated for an early 11:00 a.m. start time and the game can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app with pregame coverage starting at 10:45 a.m.
