August 31, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Sounds manager Frank Kremblas was named the Pacific Coast League Manager-of-the-Year on Friday afternoon by the league office. The award is selected through voting by the league's managers and media representatives.

Kremblas has piloted Nashville to the best record in Triple-A baseball this year (86-54) and has guided the club to its third straight PCL American Conference Northern Division championship, the first time that feat has been accomplished in the Sounds' 30-year franchise history.

Nashville's 86 wins this season, with four regular season games remaining on the schedule, tie for the 3rd-best victory output in club history and equal the best single-season effort in the 23 years since the Sounds became a Class AAA franchise in 1985.

Kremblas - who earned his 500th career victory in Nashville's first win of the 2007 season on April 6 versus New Orleans - was chosen to serve as a coach at this summer's All-Star Futures Game in San Francisco (2nd career selection) but missed the game due to the death of his mother.

In his three-year tenure with Nashville, Kremblas has won three division titles, one league championship (2005), and compiled a 237-191 record (.554). His 237 Nashville victories place him third in franchise history. Kremblas' ten-year managerial record stands at 585-531 (.524).

In his first season at the helm in Nashville, Kremblas led the Sounds to the 2005 PCL Championship with a 75-69 record, the franchise's first league title in 23 years. His 2006 division-winning Sounds club finished one win better at 74-68.

A 2004 poll conducted by Baseball America recognized Kremblas as the "best managerial prospect" in the Southern League, an honor that came one year after he was named that league's Manager-of-the-Year.

Kremblas is the third manager in the Milwaukee Brewers organization to be honored as his league's top manager this season. Double-A Huntsville skipper Don Money and Advanced-A manager John Tamargo were honored earlier this week by the Southern League and Florida State League, respectively.

The division champion Sounds wrap up their regular season with a four-game series at Memphis beginning this evening before advancing to postseason play next Wednesday at a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
