Fraizer Stomps Squirrels in 12-4 Curve Win

CURVE, PA - Matt Fraizer knocked three hits and picked up four runs batted in as Altoona recorded 13 hits in a 12-4 win over Richmond on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Altoona (17-20) scored two runs in the first and second innings, three in the fourth, and five in the sixth. Fraizer hit his second home run of the season in the second inning off Richmond (21-16) starter Kai-Wei Teng, a two-run shot that scored Tucupita Marcano, who reached on a double. He recorded two more singles in the contest, included one in the sixth that scored two runs. Teng allowed seven runs in 3.2 innings with two walks and one strikeout.

Liover Peguero had a two-hit night, including an RBI-triple in the first inning to get Altoona on the board. Connor Scott also had two hits in the contest and brought two runs home on a triple in the fourth inning. Brendt Citta hit a two-run single in the sixth.

Mike Burrows (2-0) picked up his second win of the season, tossing five innings and allowing one run on two hits and six strikeouts. His lone run came in the second inning, an RBI-single from Armani Smith.

Richmond scored three times off Curve reliever Bear Bellomy. Shane Matheny hit an RBI-single in the sixth and Brett Auerbach knocked a two-run double in the seventh inning. Bellomy gave up three hits and walked one in two innings. Will Kobos tossed two scoreless innings on two hits and two strikeouts.

Marcano had two hits in the win as Altoona recorded double-digit hits for the fifth time in its last six games. Nick Gonzales extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI-single in the fourth inning. Andres Alvarez picked up a hit in his seventh straight game in the first inning and had a sacrifice fly in the sixth. All nine of Altoona's batters reached base safely in the win.

The 13 hits were one shy of a season-high for Altoona. It is the second time in the series that the Curve scored 12 runs against Richmond and the third win of the week for Altoona.

Altoona continues their six-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. RHP Bryan Brickhouse (1-2, 6.03 ERA) will be on the mound for Richmond, while Altoona will send RHP Luis Ortiz (1-1, 4.85 ERA) to the mound.
