Baysox Offense Dismantles Yard Goats Pitching

Jordan Westburg's three-run homer in the last of the third off of Trent Fennell overcame an early Hartford lead, as the Bowie Baysox went on to a 10-3 win over the Yard Goats Friday night in Bowie. The defeat snapped Hartford's four-game winning streak and dropped the second place Yard Goats (22-15) 2 1/2 games behind first place Somerset.

Hartford jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on solo home runs by Brenton Doyle and Kyle Datres. Bowie bounced back with five runs in the third, highlighted by Westburg's home run and put the game away with a four-run fifth inning.

Jimmy Herron and Willie MacIver each had two hits for Hartford. Westburg had a home run, single, three RBI and two runs scored to highlight Bowie's 11-hit attack. Reliever Jenson Elliott pitched three scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season. Trent Fennell allowed eight runs in 2 1/3 innings to suffer his first defeat.

The Yard Goats continue their six-game series with the Orioles affiliate, the Bowie Baysox, on Saturday night at 6:35. LHP Nick Bush will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Garrett Stallings will start for the Baysox. The game will be broadcast on Newsradio 1410 WPOP. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, May 31st at 7:05 to host the Phillies affiliate, the Reading Fightin Phils.
