
Fourth of July Not Friendly to Freedom

Florence Y'alls News Release
(Florence, KY) - The Florence Freedom (19-25), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, fell to the River City Rascals (23-20) by a score of 3-1 on Independence Day at UC Health Stadium.
River City used a three run seventh inning to come back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Florence.
River City starter Tim Koons (6-0) tossed a complete game four-hitter, walking one and striking out nine.
Florence took an early lead. Kyle Carter singled with one out in the first. Collins Cuthrell walked to put runners on first and second. Andrew Godbold doubled to drive in Carter and give the Freedom a 1-0 lead after one.
Godbold went one for four with an RBI. The Oak Park, Illinois native also won the post-game Home Run derby, defeating Frontier League home run leader Taylor Ard in the championship round.
Freedom starter Tony Vocca threw four innings of shutout baseball and struck out two in his third start of the season.
The Florence bullpen sent out four different pitchers. Jason Postill tossed two innings and didn't allow a run. Seth Harvey (1-2) pitched the seventh inning and allowed three runs to pick up the loss. All three runs in the seventh for River City came with two outs as Johnny Morales singled home a run to tie the game and Harvey walked in the go-ahead run. Another single tacked on an insurance run for the Rascals. Harvey walked three batters in the frame. Pete Levitt and Ryan Davis pitched scoreless innings for the Freedom to close out the game.
The Freedom return to action on Sunday evening against the Rascals. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. and it's Military Appreciation Night. All our armed forces, veterans and those currently serving, get into the game for three thanks to our partners in the community.
