Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce forward Andrew Fournier has been selected the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 22nd-28th.
In four games last week, Fournier averaged two points-a-game racking up eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in a week that saw the K-Wings climb into first place in the North Division and a share of first place in the American Conference.
Highlighting the week for Fournier was a season-high tying five-point (3 goals, 2 assists) effort on Saturday in a 6-3 victory against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The five-point outburst tied a season-high held previously by Fournier (Vs Wheeling-12/12/09) and Matt Jones (at Toledo-12/05/09).
The hat trick by Fournier was also the third obtained by a member of the K-Wings, with Fournier and Jones receiving the previous two.
Fournier, who finished the week with a plus-6, also earned a game-winning goal.
On the season, Fournier has 66 points, which places him second on the team and tied for 13th in the league. No stranger to dishing out the puck, Fournier also leads the K-Wings with 40 assists.
With receiving the award, Fournier becomes the first member of K-Wings to earn player of the week. Goaltender Ryan Nie has received the league's Reebok Hockey Goaltender of the Week on two separate occasions.
The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium to start a three-game home stand this Wednesday, March 31st with a 7p.m. face-off versus the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Single-game tickets for any regular season home game are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, call Wings Stadium Ticket Office during regular business hours at (269) 345-5101.
