ROSTER UPDATE:

F Mark Voakes was placed on the 7-IR today and D Chris Brooks was transferred from 7-IR to 21-IR... C MacGregor Sharp and D Stu Bickel were reassigned by Anaheim to the Condors from San Antonio (American Hockey League) on Monday... F Jean-Marc Beaudoin was signed to an Amateur Try-Out (ATO) contract on Monday... RW Nick Kemp was placed on 3-IR on Sunday. He is eligible to be activated on Wednesday... D Ray Eichenlaub was activated from 3-IR last Friday.

THE MATCHUP:

The last time the Stockton Thunder were in town in February, the Condors held a seven-point lead in the division. Four weeks later, first and second place battle once again, but this time Stockton has a chance to move into a first place tie with the Condors, trailing by just two points in the standings. Bakersfield is 5-3-2 against the Thunder this season, winning once in a shootout. They can clinch the season series with one regulation win between tonight and tomorrow. The 12-game series concludes tomorrow night in Stockton.

THE KELLY CUP PLAYOFFS:

The Condors have clinched their sixth consecutive Kelly Cup Playoff berth, thanks in part to the schedule makers. Only one of the eight National Conference squads will miss the postseason; the 7th place Las Vegas Wranglers and 8th place Ontario Reign meet up three times this week to wrap up the regular season. Although the Reign are just five points behind the Condors and need to go 3-0-0 to pass them, doing so would leave Las Vegas unable to catch the Condors in the standings. Using the first tiebreaker (overall wins), it is therefore mathematically impossible for BOTH Ontario and Las Vegas to pass the Condors, meaning Bakersfield is in.

They do have a magic number of seven to clinch the Pacific Division, which would be the first division title in team history. The number can be reached by any combination of points gained, or points the Stockton Thunder fail to gain (meaning a regulation victory tonight drops the Condors magic number for the division to three).
