Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Appleton, WIS - The Quad Cities River Bandits secured their first series victory in the past three by defeating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-3 on Thursday Night at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI. The Bandits trailed by three runs after the first but rallied to plate four in the sixth inning to win their second straight game over the Brewers affiliate.
Jorge Rondon (2-0) made his third start for the Bandits, recording his second win of the season in five innings on the mound. He surrendered three runs on five hits, walking one and fanning five. His tandem piggyback partner, Michael Blazek, picked up his first save of the season, throwing four hitless innings in relief without walking a batter. Blazek punched out seven, tying his season high. Wisconsin's Hiram Burgos (1-4) was saddled with his fourth loss of the season when he allowed two runs on two hits in just two thirds of an inning.
The Bandits scored four runs on eight hits in the winning effort. All of their runs came in the sixth, including Jason Stidham's second round tripper of the season, a two-run shot that also scored Ryan Jackson. Niko Vasquez drew a one out walk and Ryde Rodriguez hit a ground-rule double to move Vasquez to third, bringing Edgar Lara to the plate. Burgos threw a wild pitch, scoring Vasquez. Lara followed with a single, driving in Rodriguez from third. Lara was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in the game. Ivan Castro and Rodriguez each added multi-hit games going 2-for-4 in the Bandit victory.
