Charleston RiverDogs News Release

ROME, Ga. -- The Charleston RiverDogs got on the board first and never looked back, winning the series opener against the Rome Braves 6-2 Monday night at State Mutual Stadium.

The RiverDogs (20-17) sent eight batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored four runs, starting with a Dustin Fowler RBI triple. The next batter, Chris Breen, hit a sacrifice fly to right field that plated Fowler. Charleston added two more later in the frame on an RBI single by Devyn Bolasky.

Chris Breen blasted a two-run home run to center field in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach at 6-0. Breen drove in a season-high three runs in the game.

Rome (16-20) scored their first run in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Wigberto Nevarez. The Braves added one more when Joseph Daris hit an RBI triple in the seventh, but they could not pull any closer than 6-2.

Dillon McNamara (2-0) relieved Monolo Reyes after Daris' triple and only allowed one hit in the last 2 1/3 innings to earn his second win of the season. Jordan Montgomery returned from a short stint on the disabled list and held the Braves to just one run on two hits in his start.

Seth Webster (0-1) shut out the RiverDogs for three innings, but he took the loss in his Minor League Baseball debut after running into trouble in the fourth and fifth.

Charleston snapped their season-high six-game losing streak with Monday's victory. The RiverDogs' last win came on May 10 against the West Virginia Power.
