Harrisburg Senators News Release

Kyle Gibson struck out ten Harrisburg Senators, and did not allow a run in seven and a third innings, as he led the New Britain Rock Cats to a 6-0 victory over the Senators on Saturday night at Metro Bank Park. Gibson, the top prospect in the Minnesota Twins' organization, was making his first AA start.

The Senators (16-20) mustered just four hits in the ballgame, after racking up fourteen on Friday night in a 9-3 win. Gibson (1-0) gave way to Joe Testa after one out in the eighth, and Matt Williams pitched a scoreless ninth to close things out.

Aaron Thompson (1-5) started for the Senators, and went just three and two-thirds innings. He gave up eight hits and five runs, all of which were earned, and eventually took the loss. Rafael Martin gave up a single run in two and a third innings in relief, and then Adam Carr and Yunior Novoa combined for three scoreless innings to finish the game.

Brad Coon, Michael Martinez, Marvin Lowrance and Sean Rooney each had a hit for the Senators, who did manage to load the bases in the eighth inning. Rooney's single came with one out in the eighth, and was followed by a pair of walks to Josh Johnson and Brad Coon. But Testa got Martinez to fly out, and Danny Espinosa to ground into a fielder's choice, to maintain the shutout.

The Rock Cats (7-27) snapped a seven-game losing streak with the win, and will go for a series split tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM. The Senators will have Tom Milone (3-1, 3.53) on the mound, while New Britain will throw David Bromberg, who is 1-1 with a 3.58 ERA on the season. Radio coverage of the contest will begin at 6:45 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
