
Thunder Defeat Binghamton For Ninth Straight Win

Trenton, NJ- A four-run fifth inning propelled the Thunder past the Binghamton Mets 6-2 for their ninth Consecutive win on Saturday night at Waterfront Park. With the win Trenton (20-15) moved into second place but remaining 3.5 games out of first.
Binghamton took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Nick Evans in the third inning. The Thunder came right back to plate two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Austin Krum was driven home on an RBI triple by David Adams and the Thunder second baseman scored on a ground out by Austin Romine to give Trenton a 2-1 lead.
The Thunder would break away from the Mets in the fifth inning as they scored four runs on four hits off Binghamton starting RHP Brad Holt (0-3) and RHP Josh Stinson. The inning was highlighted by a two-run ground-rule double into right field by Romine. Krum and Adams scored on the play and Trenton went up 6-1 after five innings.
Trenton RHP DJ Mitchell (4-2) pitched 5 1/3 innings and surrendered two runs on six hits and struck out four, inducing eight ground outs. The second run on Mitchell came in the top of the sixth inning with an infield single and bloop hit to end Mitchell's outing. Cory Arbiso and Wilkins Arias would finish the inning with one inherited runner scoring. Arias tossed an 1 1/3 scoreless with two strikeouts.
Daniel Brewer and David Adams each went 2-for-3 with two extra base hits apiece.
The crowd of 7,853 was the largest crowd at Waterfront Park in 2010.
The Thunder conclude the series with Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PM. LHP Jeremy Bleich starts for Trenton, and the Mets will counter with RHP Scott Shaw.
