Potomac Nationals News Release
Fredericksburg, VA - With a live draft on Sunday, Fredericksburg Baseball officially saw the first seats for the new state of the art facility come off the board. With the Founders Four selecting their seats at the Fredericksburg Baseball store on Caroline Street, seat selection is officially underway as the organization gets ready for an April 2020 opening.
"We were thrilled to get the first four Founders Club members in their seats at our live draft yesterday," said Seth Silber, a member of Fredericksburg Baseball ownership. "We are incredibly excited to get the remaining 500+ Founders Club members into their seats and then see a sold-out stadium on Opening Day next April."
The live draft got underway with Founders Club member #1, John Ragsdale, who showed up to the initial sign up event in December amidst rain and cold at 2:00am. "It was just the perfect day to go out and wait for baseball tickets," said Ragsdale. "A nice warm cup of coffee in downtown Fredericksburg, with just me and the police officer who asked me what I was doing sitting in front of that building. I said waiting for baseball to come to Fredericksburg." With the first selection, John and his wife Wanda chose section 17, row A, seats 1-4, which will be located right behind the home team on-deck circle. The remaining members of the Founders Four also chose seats in the first few rows by the home dugout along the third base line.
Not able to attend the live draft but still able to make a choice with the second selection, Daniel Hansen joined Ragsdale in Section 17. With seats 7-10 in Row C, Hansen will likewise be right at the Fredericksburg dugout.
Front row seats one section closer to the plate went to Founders Club member #3, Phillip Solow. With seats 9 and 10 in both rows A & B, Solow will have a great view of the entire facility from spectacular seats. "Well because #1 went and took the seats that I wanted (laughs), we've got two families in this group and decided to take two sets of aisle seats," said Solow. "It still gives us the great viewing aspect that we were looking for, with an opportunity to talk trash to batters and talk to the players and coaches in the dugout."
Kevin Brown will sit the closest to home plate of any of the Founders Four. With seats 1 & 2 in Row A of Section 15, Brown will have an up-close opportunity to cheer on Fredericksburg hitters and heckle opposing hitters if he so chooses. "We wanted to be away from these other guys (laughs).... but really, we have some friends who we're hoping will be able to get the seats behind us," said Brown. "We want to be able to hear the players, hear the coaches, and be close to both the home team and home plate."
With four selections down and more than 500 remaining, Preference Forms will continue to hit the desks of Fredericksburg Baseball staff as the seating diagram at the Caroline St. store will continue to fill in.
Fans who have signed up for the Founders Club should continue to submit their Preference Forms via the online form that has been e-mailed to each member and is available under the Founders Club tab at www.fredericksburgbaseball.com. Overall Founders Club seat selections are slated to end just before Labor Day.
Additional members of the community interested in joining the Founders Club can still do so.
