WORCESTER, MA â St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau today announced that the club has assigned forwards Jeff Panzer and Marc Brown to the Blues American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester IceCats.
The only player to appear in all 80 games for the âCats last season, Jeff Panzer led the IceCats with eight game-winning goals during the 2002-2003 season. Panzer's 2002-2003 numbers reflect 80 games, 22 goals, 32 assists and 36 penalty minutes: 80(22/32/54)36. Last year's IceCats MVP set a new franchise and tied an AHL record for the two quickest goals by the same team: - :05 seconds apart on March 30, 2003 in the third period against Manchester. Defenseman Aris Brimanis registered the second goal. The
5-7, Grand Forks, North Dakota native has appeared in 150 career IceCats games, notching 48 goals and 59 assists: 150(48/59/107), ranking him 10th on the âCats All-Time list.
A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Brown is entering his fifth season with the IceCats. Last season with Worcester, he had 13 goals and 15 assists through 58 games: 58(13/15/28). The 24 year old left wing has donned the blue and teal for 238 career games and currently ranks seventh all-time with 126 points, including 65 goals. Along with Justin Papineau, Brown owns the team record for most power play goals in a season: 14. Brown and Papineau established the mark in 2001-2002.
The Blues currently have 41 players in camp â 24 forwards, 13 defensemen and four goaltenders.
The IceCats will open their 2003-2004 season at home on Saturday, October 11th against the Providence Bruins.
