
Capitals Assign Cutta To Pirates

PORTLAND, ME - The Washington Capitals, the National Hockey League affiliate of the Portland Pirates, on Wednesday assigned defenseman Jakub Cutta to the Pirates, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced. Cutta is expected to join the Pirates in time for practice tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. at Portland Ice Arena. All Pirates' on-ice practices during training camp are open to the public.
Since opening training camp September 12th, the Capitals have made four sets of roster moves, leaving the current roster at 32 players - 18 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders. The Pirates now have 20 players in their camp including eleven forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
The Capitals (2-1 in preseason) continue their 2003 preseason, presented by World Wide Technology, with their first home exhibition game on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings at MCI Center at 7:00 p.m.
The Caps will be in Portland on Saturday, September 27th to host the Penguins at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. The Pirates begin the 2003-2004 American Hockey League season on Friday, October 10th when they visit the Lowell Lock Monsters at 7:00 p.m. The Pirates open the home half of their schedule on Friday, October 17th when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. As part of Opening Night festivities, Rivalries, Margaritas and the Brian Boru will be hosting a pre-game block party from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with drink specials, giveaways and mascot appearances.
The Pirates will be back on Civic Center ice on Saturday, October 18th when they host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Pirates' magnetic schedule courtesy of Paul G. White Tile Company. The Pirates' full season schedule is available on-line at portlandpirates.com.
