Forward Mike Hamilton Joins Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has signed forward Mike Hamilton. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Hamilton, 28, joins the Stingrays after appearing in 33 games with the Fife Flyers of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) scoring 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points. Last season, the Victoria, British Columbia, native skated in 32 contests with Sterzing/Vipiteno in Italy grabbing 54 points (27g, 27a). A sixth-round selection (175th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Hamilton saw ECHL action with the Gwinnett Gladiators, Las Vegas Wranglers and Victoria Salmon Kings from 2007-2010 totaling 91 points (35g, 56a) in 159 games. The 6-foot, 200-pound forward also spent time in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Chicago Wolves and Houston Aeros (4g, 6a in 47 games).

Prior to turning pro, Hamilton attended the University of Maine for four seasons and recorded 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points in 137 games and was a teammate of current Stingrays forward David de Kastrozza during the 2006-07 season.

The Stingrays continue a seven-game road trip Wednesday, January 11 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:00 p.m. at Wings Stadium and return to the North Charleston Coliseum Friday, January 20 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. for Dog Days of Winter featuring a Super Weiner Dog Race!
